In this objective, children will learn how to recognise syllables in words and how to create compound words by building two bases. The objective spans three 20-minute lessons, focusing on:
·       Reviewing consonants and vowel letters (including the vowel sounds that the letter y makes)
·       Identifying syllables in words
·       Building compound words from given bases.
·       Investigating specific bases that can attach to more than one other base  to build a range of compound words.
·       Learning how to build compound words independently
·       Engaging in practical games to reinforce learning
