Y2 – Introduction to learning morphology

In this objective, children will learn how morphology enables pupils to build and understand new words using morphemes.

In this lesson they will:

· Learn new terminology such as base, root, prefix, suffix, stem and more

· Discover how language has developed through etymology

· Learn how to recognise a base and affixes

· Start to explore and build word families

· Learn how the morpheme icons and flashcards support spelling throughout the Grammarsaurus spelling scheme
