In this objective, children will learn how to add prefix un-  to base words. Over three 20-minute lessons, they will:

Be introduced to the terminology affix
Be introduced to the first prefix in the spelling scheme
Learn that when un- is placed in front of a base word, it changes the meaning of the word to its opposite.
Know that we do not need to make any changes to spelling when the prefix un- is added to a base word
Learn to add un- to base words recognising which are adjectives or verbs
Practise adding the suffixes -ed and -ing to new words with the prefix un-
Reinforce learning with practical games
