Description
In this objective, children will learn how to add the base super and prefix sur- to other morphemes to form new words.
Over four 20-minute lessons, they will:
- Learn that base super is a free base that can stand alone or be added to another base to create compound words
- Learn that the morphemes super and sur- mean “above”
- Build word sums
- Explore the etymology of new bases
- Use a range of morphemes to add to words with the prefix sur-
- Use matrices to build a range of words
- Reinforce learning with practical games
