Y2 Objective 11 (Suffixes -er and -est)

In this objective, children will learn how to add suffixes -er and -est to bases and stems. Over six 20-minute lessons, they will:

Understand that adding suffix -er forms a comparative adjective
Understand that adding suffix -est forms a superlative adjective
Explore how words ending in suffixes -er and -est function in a sentence
Review vowel suffix spelling rules
Learn words that take a special form of superlative and comparative adjectives (adding more or most before the adjective)
Reinforce learning with practical games
