In this objective, children will learn how to add the suffix -ness to base words. Over
three 20-minute lessons, they will:
· Review learning of adjectives
· Learn that adding the suffix -ness to an adjective forms a noun
· Review the y to i spelling rule for previously taught morphemes
· Learn the spelling rules when adding the suffix -ness to a base word (just add the
suffix -ness to the base word and turn y to an i and add the suffix -ness)
· Use word sums to build words with a range of morphemes
· Reinforce learning with practical games
