In this objective, children will learn how to add prefix un- to bases. Over three 20-minute lessons, they will:
- Be introduced to the terminology affix
- Be introduced to the first prefix in the spelling scheme
- Learn that when un- is placed in front of a base, it changes the meaning to not or the reverse
- Know that we do not need to make any changes to spelling when the prefix un- is added to a base
- Learn to add un- to bases recognising which are adjectives or verbs
- Practise adding the suffixes -ed and -ing to new words with the prefix un-
- Reinforce learning with practical games
