
In this objective, children will learn how to build words using the base aut/ stem auto. Over three 20-minute lessons, they will: · Develop understanding of using a connecting vowel letter to join morphemes. · Practise spelling plural nouns with base aut/ stem auto. · Learn that adding suffix -y to a base or stem sometimes forms nouns. · Apply four spelling rules:
Double the final consonant letter when a word ends in a CVC pattern and the stress is on the last syllable, then add the vowel suffix. Drop the final silent e vowel letter, then add the vowel suffix. Change the final letter y after a consonant letter to i, then add the suffix (except -ing). Just add the suffix -y.
