In this lesson, children will be taught how to describe equal groups, comparing those which are equal and unequal. They will work in a variety of ways, using concrete resources and pictorially. They will use mathematical vocabulary to demonstrate their understanding but not mathematical symbols at this stage. Children should be provided with manipulatives to support where applicable. There is a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions.
