
In this lesson, children will recap their understanding of basic shape patterns before learning to describe patterns with one or two shapes that include a turn. They will describe the turn the shape has made as well as identify what the next shape will look like and also have the opportunity to draw the next shape in a pattern based on its turn.
National Curriculum objectives:
Use mathematical vocabulary to describe position, direction and movement, including movement in a straight line and distinguishing between rotation as a turn and in terms of right
angles for quarter, half and three-quarter turns (clockwise and anticlockwise)
Differentiation:
There are three levels of differentiation in this pack: ‘working towards,’ ‘expected’ and ‘greater depth’.
