In this objective, children will learn how to build compound words using bases and stems. Over three 20-minute lessons, they will:

Build a variety of compound words Investigate specific bases that can attach to more than one other base to build a range of compound words Learn that compound words can sometimes be built from stems as well as bases Use reasoning skills to identify which words are compound words Explore building compound words with stems such as 'keeper’ and ‘maker’ Engage in practical games to reinforce learning
