In this objective, children will learn how to add the suffix  -ion to base words.  Over three 20-minute lessons, they will:
·               Learn that the suffix -ion turns a verb into a noun
·               Learn a series of rules for the adding the suffix -ion:
Þ   if the base ends in t, add -ion
Þ   if the base ends in e, drop the e and add -ion
Þ   if the base ends in d or de, swap the letter(s) to and s and add -ion
Þ   if the base ends in ss, add -ion
Þ   If the base ends in mit, change it to miss and add -ion
·               Review learning of previous affixes
·               Explore the etymology of the base word mit
·               Use matrices to build a variety of words with the base mit
·               Reinforce learning with practical games
