Description

In this lesson, children calculate the perimeter of a rectangle from the length and width. They will learn different approaches for calculating the perimeter and choose which they like best. There is a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions.

National Curriculum Objectives: Mathematics Year 4:

convert between different units of measure [for example, kilometre to metre] measure and calculate the perimeter of a rectilinear figure (including squares) in centimetres and metres find the area of rectilinear shapes by counting squares
