In this lesson, children will build on their understanding of perimeter and apply what they have learnt to find the perimeter of rectilinear shapes. They will start off by working with rectilinear shapes on a grid before moving on to shapes not on a grid but will all lengths given.

find the area of rectilinear shapes by counting squares
