In this lesson, children will be taught how to count money when using a combination of coins and notes, pounds and pence. They will practise counting different combinations of coins and notes using part-whole model to deepen understanding. Physical resources are advised here, if you have coins, use these to support the children's conceptual understanding. A teaching presentation and differentiated resources with fluency and reasoning activities are available.

solve simple problems in a practical context involving addition and subtraction of money of the same unit
