In this lesson, children will measure the mass of objects in kilograms and have an understanding that kilograms are much heavier than grams. They will use balance scales and circular scales and will develop their skills in accurately reading circular scales, using estimation when the arrow is not directly pointing to a number. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by additional fluency questions, differentiated practical fluency activities, differentiated reasoning and problem-solving challenge cards.
