Description

This resource revisits fractions from Y1 and discusses the ‘part’ and the ‘whole’ and what they may look like. The importance of equal parts is emphasised with some practical activities. There is a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions.

National Curriculum Objectives:
Mathematics Year 2:

recognise, find and name a half as 1 of 2 equal parts of an object, shape or quantity
recognise, find and name a quarter as 1 of 4 equal parts of an object, shape or quantity

Differentiation:
