Children use their knowledge of grouping and sharing and explore dividing by 8 through sharing into 8 equal groups and grouping into 8s. Children will continue to develop their understanding of whether a question involves sharing or grouping. They will also use appropriate concrete manipulatives or pictorial representations to support their understanding. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions, as well as 3 sets of extra fluency questions.
