
In this lesson, children build on previous understanding of pictograms with keys that represent 2, 5 or 10 objects per symbol. Children are encouraged to think about using appropriate values for symbols in keys to draw pictograms to represent data. They are also introduced to the concept of half symbols and how to work out their value.
National Curriculum objectives:
Interpret and construct simple pictograms, tally charts, block diagrams and simple tables
Ask and answer simple questions by counting the number of objects in each category and sorting the categories by quantity
Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables, including recognising odd and even numbers
Differentiation:
There are three levels of differentiation in this pack: ‘working towards,’ ‘expected’ and ‘greater depth’.
