This editable differentiated lesson pack focuses on how water moves through a plant, building directly on children's knowledge of roots, stems and leaves from Lesson 1. A demonstration and video shows how coloured water travels up real stems and leaves, helping them see that water moves upwards through the stem. They then investigate this idea using kitchen paper as a model, recording how far coloured water travels over time. By comparing their observations and discussing what happens when stems are damaged, children learn that water transport is essential for keeping leaves healthy and enabling them to make food.
