In this objective, children will learn how to add suffix - esque to bases and stems. Over three 20-minute lessons, they will:

Understand how adding the suffix -esque changes the meaning of the base or stem
Recognise that the suffix -esque is used to form new words
Recognise that some words may no longer be used (even when in the dictionary) and that  some words can return to regular usage
Explore forming their own words using the suffix -esque
Compare using suffix -ish with suffix -esque
Apply the spelling rule ‘Drop the final silent e vowel letter, then add the vowel suffix’.
