
In this objective, children will extend their understanding of morphology, using morphemes to build new words. This objective is for pupils returning to Spelling with Grammarsaurus after at least one academic year and who have already completed Introduction to Morphology Level 2.Pupils new to the scheme should complete Introduction to Morphology Level 1 only. Over two 20-30 minute lessons, they will:
Recap key terminology such as base, root, prefix, suffix, stem and more Recap how the morpheme icons and flashcards support spelling throughout the Grammarsaurus spelling scheme Practise recognising both free and bound bases within words Consolidate and deepen understanding of more complex terminology such as connecting vowel letter (CVL), alternate bases and assimilated prefixes Build a word family for base 'hap' and practise using suffixing rules
