Teach outstanding writing, punctuation and grammar course

Beyoncé, Pitch Perfect and zombies…what do they all have in common?
They can revolutionise your SPaG teaching…that’s what!

Do you want to teach writing, punctuation and grammar in a creative way? Are you looking
for a whole-school approach to see writing and SPaG progression throughout the school? Are
you new to your year group and want to master new ARE terminology through a hands-on
workshop?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this training conference is for you. The
day will be filled with ideas for you to use the very next day!

Typical Breakdown of the day:

8:45 – 9:00 – Arrival, registration and refreshments.

9:00 – 10:30 – The Place Value of Grammar

Teachers can spend hours of unnecessary time focusing on areas of grammar, which have
already been covered, whilst huge gaps remain uncovered. But where should you start? Can
there be a whole-school approach to fix this? The Place Value of Grammar does this.

10:30 – 10:45 – Coffee break coffe break

10:45 – 11:15 – Why so tense?

Bonnie Tyler, One Direction and the cast of Pitch Perfect can all work collectively to
alleviate your tension. Discover how the use of song and rhyme can have your pupils
recognising the difference between the past progressive, present progressive, past simple,
present simple, past perfect, present perfect and future tenses.

11:15 – 12:15 – Meeting Writing and SPaG ARE expectations in KS1

What’s a subordinating conjunction? Which co-ordinating conjunction can we use here? How
can I make all of this memorable and enjoyable for 6 and 7 year olds?
The expectations for KS1 are higher than ever. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll not only
have a blast improving your own understanding of grammar, but you’ll have a wide range of
engaging activities to deliver the very next day!

12:15 – 13:00 – Lunch break Lunch break

13:00 – 14:30 – Meeting Writing and SPaG ARE expectations in KS2

How do I use the subjunctive form? What’s the difference between a preposition and a
subordinating conjunction? Where should my comma go?
The expectations for KS2 are higher than ever. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll not only
have a blast improving your own understanding of grammar, but you’ll have a wide range of
engaging activities to deliver the very next day!

14:30 – 15:00 – Support, challenge and quality feedback.

How can I support my lower ability pupils to understand this? How can I challenge all pupils
to meet this expectation?

This final workshop aims to provide you with a variety of approaches to support and
This course can be booked as a whole day or half day. A ‘lite’ version is also available for
twilight CPD sessions. We are also happy to adapt parts of the course to meet the needs of the
