In this lesson, children will count forwards and backwards through zero to find the difference between positive and negative numbers. They will then move on to more efficient strategies by jumping to and from zero and adding the jumps together. Children will be exposed to horizontal and vertical number lines, answering questions with real-life contexts. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions, as well as 3 sets of extra fluency questions.
