In this lesson, children recap learning from year 4, translating shapes on a coordinate grid and describing translations. Children will translate a single point and move on to translating full shapes, first translating in one direct (up/down or left/right), then combining directions. They should notice how the shape remains the same size and orientation. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions, as well as 3 sets of extra fluency questions.
