
This editable lesson focuses on the core DT skill of making. In this lesson, children prepare and assemble Jack’s snacks, using the food preparation skills they have practised previously. They follow simple steps to cut soft fruit and assemble fruit wands, and to mash and mix ingredients to make a savoury bean spread. Children apply good hygiene routines, safe tool use and slow, careful movements while working under close adult supervision. Please refer to the DT safety guidance for schools and teachers advice when undertaking any practical activities. Schools should also carry out their own risk assessment in line with school/LA/MAT policies before delivering this lesson.
