WHAT IS MORPHS?

Morphs is an adventure spelling game set after Professor Grubwell's Shrink-o-Tron accidentally shrinks humanity to microscopic size. People now live underground, among roots, rust and towering insects, in a new home called the Colony.

Children play as Morphs, young explorers and builders who gather resources, explore their surroundings and help the Colony grow stronger.

Progress is powered by spelling. Each level teaches a specific morpheme (for example, <ment>) with a short tutorial video, then children use it in gameplay to earn resources, customise their character, build their base and defend themselves against giant bugs.

HOW IS MORPHS DIFFERENT?

Morphs is designed to align directly with the Spelling with Grammarsaurus scheme, reinforcing the same systematic, morphemic approach used in the classroom. Learning is explicit, structured and cumulative, helping spelling make sense for all learners.

Every response feeds into a unique spelling heatmap, clearly identifying gaps in a child's knowledge and linking directly to targeted support materials. This makes Morphs a powerful assessment and intervention tool, particularly effective for children with SEND, especially those with specific literacy difficulties.

Spelling with Grammarsaurus is a systematic, inclusive scheme built on approaches shown to support children with specific literacy difficulties. It builds spelling knowledge through common bases, prefixes and suffixes, plus a small set of clear suffixing rules, using a structured, cumulative approach for secure long-term learning.

Assessment is embedded through the Place Value of Spelling approach, so children focus first on the morphemes they need most, quickly closing gaps and supporting success for all learners, including those with SEND.
