In this lesson, children continue finding fractions of a given amount but progress onto non-unit fractions. They use their knowledge of denominators and numerators to work out how many parts the whole must be divided into then use the numerator to find out how many of those parts they need. Various representations are used to support this learning. Fractions involve denominators in the 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables.
