
This editable lesson focuses on the core Design and Technology (D&T) skill of designing. In this lesson, the children will practise making prototype hinge mechanisms before designing their own 1666-style house model. They will then plan their structure using a design checklist, deciding where to include cross-bracing for strength and a hinge mechanism to create a moving part. Please refer to the DT safety guidance for schools and teachers advice when undertaking any practical activities.
