
This lesson focuses on the core art skill of developing technique. Children will explore watercolour layering by painting leaves inspired by the work of illustrator Maria Sibylla Merian. Through practical painting activities and discussion, children will practise patience, control and colour mixing, developing their understanding of how water is used to change watercolour paint. Children will also begin to understand how artists use detailed illustrations to explain information.
