Description

This model text is a set of diary entries written in the role of an avalanche survivor. It is based on real event that occurred in Afghanistan in 2015. It has been written to meet the Year 6 expected standard and comes with a handy annotated version detailing the text-type specific features (red), grammar (green), punctuation (purple) and spelling (blue) teaching opportunities should you wish to use this text with your learners.

National curriculum objectives:
Year 6: Pupils should be taught to identify the audience and purpose of the writing, selecting the appropriate form, and using other similar writing as models for their own.
