In this lesson, children build on their previous knowledge of metric measurements. They will recognise, read and write all metric measures for length, mass and capacity and will be introduced to tonnes for the first time. They will explore the difference between capacity and volume and apply their understanding to estimation and problem solving. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions.
