In this lesson, children explore the relationship between the metric kilometre and imperial mile. Children will learn that one mile is a greater distance than one kilometre and that 5 miles is approximately equal to 8km. They will apply this knowledge to problems where they will compare distances in kilometres and miles. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions.
