In this lesson, children use metre sticks to measure objects longer than a metre. They make decisions on whether to use centimetre rulers or metre sticks for different objects and see the link between 100 cm and 1 m.

National Curriculum Objectives:
Mathematics Year 2: choose and use appropriate standard units to estimate and measure length/height in any direction (m/cm); mass (kg/g); temperature (°C); capacity (litres/ml) to the nearest appropriate unit, using rulers, scales, thermometers and measuring vessels
