This differentiated lesson focuses on helping children understand 'what an animal life cycle is'. They are introduced to the term 'life cycle' and by looking at photos, make observations about the different stages of human growth. Children then explore the life cycles of a butterfly and a frog, using photographs, diagrams and videos to order stages and recognise that life cycles repeat. Learning is applied through a hands-on activity where children sequence the stages of the human life cycle, with challenge opportunities to identify and explain mistakes in an incorrect animal life cycle.
