This model text is a newspaper report detailing the final moments of Guy Fawkes. It has been written to meet the Year 6 expected standard and comes with a handy annotated version detailing the text-type specific features (red), grammar (green), punctuation (purple) and spelling (blue) teaching opportunities should you wish to use this text with your learners.

National Curriculum Objectives
Writing: English Y5/6: Pupils should be taught to use further organisational and presentational devices to structure text and to guide the reader.  Pupils should be taught to identify the audience and purpose of the writing, selecting the appropriate form, and using other similar writing as models for their own.
