Lesson 8 Percentage of an amount – multi-stepIn this lesson, children will build on their knowledge of finding 1%, 10%, 25% etc... to help them find percentages of amounts involving more than one step.Example- Finding 17% by finding 10%, 5% and 2 lots of 1%.  There is a teaching presentation and three levels of worksheets (working towards, expected and greater depth) with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem solving questions.

Mathematics Year 6:

·       use common factors to simplify fractions; use common multiples to express fractions in the same denomination

·       compare and order fractions, including fractions >1

·       associate a fraction with division and calculate decimal fraction equivalents [for example, 0.375] for a simple fraction [for example, 3/8]

·       recall and use equivalences between simple fractions, decimals and percentages, including in different context
