In this objective, children will learn how to add the suffix -ic to base words. Over three 20-minute lessons, they will:
· Review and group previously taught morphemes from throughout the spelling scheme so far
· Learn that adding the suffix -ic tells us that something is related to or like something
· Learn that -ic can be added to free base words
· Explore the etymology of some bound base words with the suffix -ic
· Learn a range of rules for adding the suffix -ic: just add the suffix -ic to the base word, drop the y and add the suffix -ic, and drop the e and add the suffix -ic
· Reinforce learning with practical games
