
In this lesson, children explore subtraction as ‘taking away’. Children explore First, Then, Now stories for subtraction and physically take things away before moving on to crossing things out to represent that they have been taken away. They use this to find what is left. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions, as well as 3 sets of extra fluency questions.
