This comprehension crusher reading scheme pack includes two non-chronological reports entitled ‘Imports and Exports of the UK’ and ‘Biomes of the World’. The first text, that accompanies the teaching slides, is an overview of the different materials the UK buys and sells abroad and how these goods are transported around the world. It meets the Year 6 expected standard and comes with three sets of comprehension questions, based on two curriculum content domains (vocabulary and retrieval). The teaching slides provided, along with the questions sets, allow for in depth practice of each individual question type. The second model text informs the reader about seven different biomes found across the globe: their landscape, temperature and physical characteristics. This part also meets the Year 6 expected standard and is accompanied by one set of comprehension questions, which includes the three styles of question, previously practised. This provides an ‘unseen’ text and additional questions to practise these same skills independently.
