In this lesson, children count forwards and backwards, through zero in multiples. The initial focus will reinforce the reflective aspect of positive and negative numbers, counting in multiples including zero. Children will then learn to count through zero with sequences that don’t follow this notion, for example, -5, -2, 1, 4. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions, as well as 3 sets of extra fluency questions.
