In this lesson, children build on their understanding of area. They learn that that rectilinear shapes have straight sides and right angles. They explore making rectilinear shapes when given the number of squares. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions, as well as 3 sets of extra fluency questions.
