In this lesson, children represent physical objects using manipulatives, for example representing leaves with counters. They explore being able to count anything by representing it with manipulatives. They begin to use numerals to describe a set of objects. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions, as well as 3 sets of extra fluency questions.
