In this lesson, build on their experience counting backwards and are introduced to the language ‘1 less’. They learn that 1 less is the number before and use manipulatives and representations to support this. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions, as well as 3 sets of extra fluency questions.
