Children will make connections between the 2, 4 and 8 times-tables. They link multiplying by 4 to doubling then doubling again and multiplying by 8 to doubling three times. They should also understand that dividing by 4 is the same as halving then halving again and dividing by 8 is the same as halving three times. Children will also use their knowledge of known facts to support them.
