In this lesson, children recap their learning from Year 4, looking at numbers to 10,000 as they prepare to deal with numbers to 100,000 and 1,000,000. Children look at a variety of pictorial and concrete representations, including place value counter, base 10 and part-whole models, with a  particular focus on place value charts. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions, as well as 3 sets of extra fluency questions.

Count forwards or backwards in steps of powers of 10 for any given number up to 1,000,000
