In this lesson, children build on their experience from Year 4 to round numbers to 10, 100 and 1,000 with larger numbers. They look at number lines to visualise the nearest 10, 100 or 1,000 and then explore which place value column to look at in order to round to each degree of accuracy. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions, as well as 3 sets of extra fluency questions.
