This model text is a newspaper report based on the traditional tale of Goldilocks. It has been written to meet the Year 6 expected standard and comes with a handy annotated version detailing the text-type specific features (red), grammar (green), punctuation (purple) and spelling (blue) teaching opportunities should you wish to use this text with your learners.

This resource also comes with a ‘model text comprehension pack’ focusing on content domains 2a, 2b and 2d.

National Curriculum Objectives
Writing: English Y5/6: Pupils should be taught to use further organisational and presentational devices to structure text and to guide the reader.  Pupils should be taught to identify the audience and purpose of the writing, selecting the appropriate form, and using other similar writing as models for their own.
