Description

In this lesson, children build on the previous lesson and find a fraction of a given amount using more abstract strategies. Children use bar models and other representations to make links between finding unit fraction and non-unit fractions of an amount. This lesson includes a teaching presentation accompanied by dierentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions, as well as 3 sets of extra fluency questions. National Curriculum Objectives: Mathematics Year 5:

• Multiply proper fractions and mixed numbers by whole numbers, supported by materials and diagrams
