In this lesson, children revisit how to measure using a protractor from year 5. They will review the types of angles, how to line up a protractor accurately and how to read the scales. Children will have the opportunity to read protractor measurements and use a protractor to measure angles presented in different ways. There is a teaching presentation accompanied by differentiated activities with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions.

Mathematics Year 6:

Compare and classify geometric shapes based on their properties and sizes
Draw 2-D shapes using given dimensions and angles
Find unknown angles in any triangles, quadrilaterals, and regular polygons
Recognise angles where they meet at a point, are on a straight line, or are vertically opposite, and find missing angles

Differentiation:
There are three levels of differentiation in this pack: ‘working towards,’ ‘expected’ and ‘greater depth’.
